Head Sanitary Piping

The original run of hose from the head to the holding tank was laid out for appearance rather than function. The hose snaked through a locker on a long uphill run to the holding tank so was nearly impossible to clear. At the suggestion of Peggie Hall, a.k.a. The Headmistress, I reconfigured the head discharge into this arrangement:

The volume of the uphill hose run is cut more than in half and dry pumping should boost most of it up over the loop where gravity will take over. The elbow through the bulkhead goes directly to the tank.

The hole for the old hose run can be seen behind the discharge Tee.

Close up of the siphon break loop.

The siphon break isn't strictly necessary but the fittings come with nice mounting lugs and the nubbin on top will make a nice place to hang something wet to dry out.

I didn't use the best hose, Trident 102, for this project but stayed with the Shields Vac Sanitary hose I used before. I've had good luck with it in the cool climate where I sail, it looks better, and the smaller outside diameter was key to making the tank top piping work out and getting a straight run down to the WC pump discharge.
